    Boy do you guys sit really close! I would be SOOOOOO uncomfortable!

    I like your point about creating balance between being relevant in the present and looking to what God has in the future while at the same time paying respect to our collective history as faith communities. Your slice on “Culture” can help move this conversation along even further because there is much to be learned from cultures that have generational respect.

    There is no doubt that the wisdom and experiences of those gone before us will make our emerging churches more effective, but we shall never benefit from this abundance of wisdom if we do not have respect for the generations gone before us. Obviously, we have to refrain from creating monuments of past glories, but we must not blindly barge forward without the sight and wisdom garnered from the mistakes made and successes celebrated by those gone before us…
